Earlier this month, the Indian government had issued new standard operating procedures for vaccination of people undertaking international travel for educational purposes, employment opportunities, or as part of India’s contingent for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The government stated that the CoWin certificates of these aforementioned categories of travellers will be linked to their passports. However, now the support for linking passport number to a vaccination certificate is available to all on the CoWin portal.

Aarogya Setu, the government of India’s mobile application for contact tracing and dissemination of medical advisories to contain the spread of Covid-19, issued an update on the same on its Twitter handle.

Following are the steps to follow to update your passport number in your vaccination certificate:

  • Login to cowin.gov.in.
  • Select the “Raise an” Issue button
  • Select the passport option
  • Select the person from the drop-down menu
  • Enter passport number
  • Hit the submit button
CoWin

You are expected to receive the new certificate in seconds, but it may take some more time.

Aarogya Setu tweeted, “In case the name on the certificate does not match the name on the passport, you can request for name correction as well. Entering passport number and requesting name change can only be done once, so please ensure there are no mistakes in entering the details.”
