Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the governing civic body of Mumbai, has issued new guidelines for passengers arriving at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA).

As per the new update, all domestic air passengers arriving from airports located within Maharashtra to Mumbai are exempted from RT-PCR test requirements upon landing in Mumbai.

Likewise, BMC has also stated that for all domestic air passengers travelling from Mumbai airport to airports located within Maharashtra, airport operator/airlines shall not insist on an RT-PCR test.

Earlier in May this year, Mumbai airport had issued an official statement making it mandatory for all domestic passengers arriving in the city to present a negative RT-PCR test report at the time of boarding. The RT-PCR sample collection should have been done within 48 hours of the scheduled time of landing at the Mumbai airport. Passengers without RT-PCR test reports were not allowed to board flights.

However, the civic body and airport officials have eased ceratin travel restrictions now despite the extension of lockdown by the Maharashtra government.
