Accor’s Movenpick brand is to open its first property in Poland’s southwestern city of Wroclaw.

The hotel will be housed within the historic Grand Hotel on Pilsudski Street opposite the city’s main rail station, and is scheduled to open in 2023.

The building originally opened as the Hotel du Nord in 1903, and is effectively being rebuilt behind the original façade, with an expansion taking the room count to 180.

Hotel Movenpick Wroclaw will also feature a restaurant, bar, fitness centre, spa, conference space and underground parking.

Three other Movenpick properties are also currently under development in the Polish destinations of Kolobrzeg, Zakopane and Poznan.

Commenting on the news Jacek Stasikowski, Accor’s network development director, said:

“This is our fourth contract signed in Poland for a Movenpick hotel, which proves that the brand enjoys good reputation and trust among investors.

“We are certain that Movenpick Wrocław, as an architectural showpiece of the city, will offer its guests a completely new quality of leisure in the premium segment.

“I am very happy and proud that such an experienced owner of Wrocław hotels as Rafin has chosen Accor to cooperate on this significant project.”

Accor recently signed the first properties under its extended stay Movenpick Living brand, with an Istanbul hotel opening this year, followed by a property in the Disentis ski resort in the Surselva Region of Switzerland slated for 2024.
