Cyclone Tauktae disrupts flight operations in Mumbai

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will remain shut for three hours today between 1100 hours and 1400 hours, due to Cyclone Tauktae.

“With the approach of the impending Cyclone Tauktae, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is closing down all flight operations from 1100-1400 hours of May 17, 2021 as a precaution. The airport has so far witnessed three diversions. More updates will follow, ” reads an official statement.

Later, in a new update, the airport announced that it will be shut until 1600 hours(local time) today.

Airlines like Indigo and Spicejet have issued a travel advisory on the same:

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 24 teams in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

According to SkyMetWeather, Cyclone Tauktae is heading towards Gujarat.
