Hyatt has announced plans to open its first Alila hotel in Shanghai, China.

The 188-room hotel in the Jing’an District of Shanghai is expected to debut in 2023.

Alila Shanghai will be located in a mixed-use development that will also comprise premium offices and retail space. The hotel’s central location is adjacent to Nanjing West Road, a high-end shopping destination.

Designed as an “urban utopia”, the hotel will feature natural materials, earth tones, and stunning city views. There is a landscaped garden in the fourth-floor lobby that is inspired by Shanghai’s classical gardens.

The hotel houses a rooftop Chinese restaurant, an organic restaurant, Tea Bar, and a rooftop bar that overlooks the Old Shanghai Zhang Garden.

Other facilities include a spa, an indoor pool, gym, meeting space, and a private garden, well suited for events and functions.

David Udell, Group President, the Asia Pacific for Hyatt said:
