Travellers flying with Etihad from Abu Dhabi will soon be able to validate their Covid-19 travel documents ahead of arriving at the airport.

The ‘Verified to Fly’ initiative allows passengers to arrive at the airport “knowing they have met all essential requirements before their flight”. The service will streamline the airport experience, with customers able to benefit from fast track check-in at the airport’s Verified to Fly desk.

Guests can sign up to the service by visiting the ‘Manage my Booking’ page, where they will find information on submitting Covid-19 documents required by their destination. Passengers will receive a ‘success’ email if they meet government requirements and will be asked to check in online and download their boarding pass.

Travellers whose documents do not meet the criteria will be asked to resubmit or check their documents. Guests can also check their status at any time by visiting the same page.

The service will be available for all guests departing Abu Dhabi (excluding flights to China) from May 12. This will be rolled out to flights departing Amman, Beirut, Dhaka and Manila “shortly thereafter”. The airline has said that there are “developments in progress” to introduce the service at other destinations.

Mohammad Al Bulooki, Chief Operating Officer at Etihad Aviation Group, commented:

“As Etihad continuously looks for innovative solutions to simplify the travel experience, Verified to Fly removes any guess work from the equation and makes check-in faster. Guests have total peace of mind knowing that when they arrive at the airport, they have already met all Covid travel requirements”.

To reduce long queues at the airport, the airline has also recently launched an at-home baggage check-in service, allowing customers departing Abu Dhabi to request for their baggage to be collected and checked in from their home or office.

Meanwhile, the Gulf carrier has begun to carry out trials of the IATA Travel Pass on flights from Abu Dhabi to North America.
