Preferred Hotels and Resorts has added five independent properties on Spain and Greece’s islands to its European portfolio.

The hotel group is hoping to benefit from the potential introduction of a green travel corridor from the UK to Spain and Greece.

Commenting on the news, Executive Vice President of Europe, Brenda Collin, stated:

“As travel restrictions start to lift in the U.K, we anticipate that travellers will start to plan a return to much-loved island destinations and explore lesser-known under-the-radar islands, for an opportunity to reconnect with each other, and with nature, culture, and local communities. Our new members, ranging from luxury retreats to family-friendly properties, are excited to throw open their doors for a much-anticipated summer season, welcoming back guests for their first trips abroad in over a year.”

The new additions include:

Lago Resort Menorca Suites del Lago 5*(Menorca, Spain)

Opening in June, this adults-only eco-retreat comprises 91 suites with minimalist interiors and marina views. Amenities will include a spa, fitness center, and a Japanese-Menorcan restaurant.

Hotel Hacienda de Abajo (La Palma, Spain)

Located in the town of Tazacorte on the island of La Palma, the hotel is a former seventeenth century sugar farm, and features “refined chic interiors” and views of the Atlantic Ocean. The property has 32 individually decorated rooms, a spa and pool, a restaurant featuring local cuisine with international influences, and an art collection featuring “exquisite antiques, tapestries, and museum-quality art collections”.

Santa Catalina, a Royal Hideaway Hotel (Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain)

The newly renovated 204-room hotel is located in Santa Catalina. Amenities include traditional cuisine at signature restaurant Poemas, led by the Michelin-starred Padrón brothers.

Andronis Arcadia (Santorini, Greece)

The hotel’s design draws inspiration from its natural surroundings, with whitewashed walls, bamboo roofs, and “earthy-luxe interiors”. The 52 suites feature plunge pools with sea views, and there are two on-property restaurants, offering taverna-style dishes and sushi. The property also has a spa with an infinity pool, outdoor relaxation area and locally inspired treatments.

Lesante Classic Luxury Hotel and Spa (Zakynthos, Greece)

Located in the countryside of Tsivili village on the coast of Zante island, the resort boasts 107 rooms with balconies or terraces, two large outdoor pools, a fitness centre, and the islands’ largest spa with an indoor pool, hot tub, hammam, and a range of treatments. Dining facilities include two restaurants, featuring Greek and international cuisine, a piano bar, and swim-up bar.

The new additions mean that the group now counts 33 properties in Spain and a further eight in Greece.
