Start-up carrier Pragusa.one has announced plans to operate nonstop flights from the Croatian city of Dubrovnik to New York Newark and Los Angeles International from next month.

In a post on the airline’s official LinkedIn page the carrier said that it would operate three flights per week to both destinations.

The Newark route is scheduled to launch on June 21, followed by flights to LAX from June 22. Tickets will be on sale from May 24, and both routes are initially set to operate until the end of October 2021.

Flights to New York will be served by an A330-300 aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while services to LA will be operated by an A340 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

A website is live at pragusa.one, although it is little more than a holding page at present, with interested customers and travel agents encouraged to sign up for more information.

The site also depicts a route map, showing future planned destinations from both Dubrovnik and Prague to Johannesburg, Beijing, Tokyo, Chengdu, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Simpleflying.com reports that Pragusa.one is leasing the two A330 and A340 aircraft, ahead of the arrival of two A350s which will be fitted out in a “premium-only” configuration.

Managing director Kresimir Budinski is quoted as saying:

“We worked hard since summer 2020 to create this unique product for avid travellers that are ready and steady to fly abroad. Point-to-point flight operations bundled with a full travel package and premium in-flight service are key success factors for the ultimate travel experience in the future. The US market represents one of the focus markets for Pragusa.one.”

There are currently no nonstop flights between Croatia and the US – United Airlines recently announced plans to launch a thrice weekly service between Newark and Dubrovnik from July 8.
