IHG Hotels and Resorts is to open a Kimpton property on the Thai island of Koh Samui later this year.

The 138-room hotel will be located on Choengmon Beach, with two thirds of guest accommodation being suites or villas, and “the vast majority” of rooms offering views over the Gulf of Thailand.

Facilities will include four restaurants and bars, as well as a swimming pool, spa, fitness centre and 124 sqm of meeting and events space.

Kimpton Koh Samui will be the second property under the brand in Thailand, joining Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok which opened in late 2020.

IHG purchased Kimpton in 2014, and has gradually expanded the brand beyond its US roots, with hotels under development in Asian destinations including Bali, Suzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Nanjing, Sanya and Kuala Lumpur.

The group also recently announced plans for a 149-room Kimpton property in Paris’ Opera district.
