LOT Polish Airlines has announced that it will begin flying to Dubai in the UAE from September, according to Aviator.

This is a seasonal non-stop service and is aimed at capitalising on those Poles seeking some autumn and winter sunshine.

Warsaw-Dubai flights are effective September 19, 2021 and will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays until March 2022.

LOT will deploy a 168-seat B737-800 on the route, with 12 seats in business class. The airline may operate a B787 Dreamliner if required.

The timings are as follows:

  • LO121 Warsaw Chopin-Dubai International 0740-1525
  • LO122 Dubai International-Warsaw Chopin 1715-2135

Some readers may question whether or not a B737 can fly non-stop but remember that Norwegian used to operate B737s non-stop between Scandinavia and the Gulf.

Readers may also ask whether or not LOT will offer onward connections at Dubai. These LOT flights are targeted at Europeans seeking point-to-point flights. Dubai’s Emirates already operates the route and it has very many special fares beyond its UAE hub.

In any case the Star Alliance carriers (LOT being a member) view Emirates as a rival.

Aviator quoted LOT’s CCO Michal Fijol as stating that in recent years “Dubai has been becoming one of the Poles’ favourite winter exotic destinations.”

Remember that all flights are subject to alteration in these unusual times.
