Following its mass vaccination drive, Israel has lifted a public mask mandate and fully reopened its education system.

While masks are still required indoors and in large gatherings, health officials ended a year-long requirement to wear a mask in public spaces and primary and secondary school grades returned to classrooms on Sunday.

Israel has swiftly inoculated most of its population against Covid-19 in its vaccination campaign.  Over 53 per cent of Israel’s 9.3 million citizens have received two shots of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.

The country has lifted most of its coronavirus restrictions. It also announced last week that it would be reopening the country to vaccinated foreign tourists, May 2021 onwards.
