Hyatt has announced plans for a new property under its lifestyle Caption brand in Memphis.

The 136-room Caption by Hyatt Memphis will see a new tower being integrated into the city’s historic Ellis and Sons Ironworks and Machine Shop.

The development is scheduled to open in 2022, and will include a multi-functional ‘Talk Shop’ lounge space, with a patio and beer garden featuring open fire pits and locally driven tap beer offerings.

The Caption by Hyatt brand was launched in 2019, and so far has a project confirmed in Shanghai. Hyatt describes the concept as combining “the design and comfort of an upscale, lifestyle-forward hotel with the self-guided options of a select-service property”.
