Fattal Hotels will debut its NYX Hotel brand in the UK on May 17, with a property in London’s Holborn district.

The group, which owns the Jurys Inn brand and Leonardo Hotels portfolio, initially planned for the UK debut to take place in Edinburgh but this opening has been delayed due to Covid-19.

NYX Hotel London Holborn will be the 11th property in the group’s city centre portfolio, and will be a rebranding of the Grange Holborn Hotel – the group also acquired the Grange Tower Bridge Hotel, the Grange St Paul’s Hotel and the Grange City Hotel in 2019, and reflagged the three properties under the Leonardo brand.

The boutique hotel brand, named after the Greek goddess of the night, currently has properties in locations including Bilbao, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Prague and Tel Aviv.

The hotel will occupy a ten-storey building on the corner of Southampton Street and Theobalds Road. A work of street art by Dan Kitchener, described as “part mural, part graffiti”, will run down the entire length of the building.

Interiors have been designed by Garuda Design, with rooms and suites located down “moodily lit corridors” and featuring “eye-catching artwork”, large, padded leather headboards, teak sideboards, fully stocked mini Smeg fridges, Nespresso coffee machines, and bespoke ‘Dream’ beds. The hotel will also have a programme of events and a “black book of London addresses and events”.

Facilities will include the all-day and late-night Nyx bar and restaurant, featuring a menu of dishes which “reflect the melting pot of cuisines found in London”, cocktails and a range of over 20 tequilas. There will also be a spa in the basement, with a 13-metre Greco-Roman indoor swimming pool with retractable flooring to create a private events space, a steam room, sauna, fitness centre, and treatment suites. Additionally, a rooftop events space is set to open in 2022.

Jason Carruthers, Managing Director of Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland, commented on the news:

“London is one of the most culturally diverse and exciting cities in the world and the NYX brand is committed to reflecting that and engaging with the people and places that make it so special. Our debut UK property is going to be an exciting place to visit – a new scene for guest and Londoners alike.”

A NYX Hotel is also scheduled to open in Jerusalem this year, along with properties in Rotterdam in 2023 and Leipzig in 2024.
