Hilton is to bring its “focused service” Garden Inn brand to South Korea for the first time, with the signing of the Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam.

The property is located in the Gangnam Business District, south of the Han River in Seoul, around 30 km from Gimpo airport and 65 km from Incheon International Airport.

The hotel is scheduled to open this summer, and will feature 208 rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, meeting facilities, an outdoor pool, fitness centre, and a 24-hour shop for snacks, local beverages and self-service coffee.

There are around 900 Garden Inn properties operating globally, with over 300 in Hilton’s pipeline – the group recently opened the 407-room Hilton Garden Inn Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, the brand’s largest hotel to date in Greater China.

Commenting on the news Matt Fry, senior vice president, development, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said:

“We are pleased to partner with Joon Tower on the opening of the first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Seoul. This is testament to the strength of our organic growth strategy and a great addition to our existing brand portfolio, which comprises Hilton Hotels and Resorts and Conrad Hotels and Resorts, as well as the upcoming launch of our Doubletree by Hilton brand with the opening of Doubletree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo next year.

“In 2019, South Korea saw a record number of approximately 17.5 million inbound visitors, and we are confident South Korea will once again be at the top of travellers’ minds as a tourist destination once the pandemic eases. The entry of this focused service brand in the city will enable us to meet the diverse needs of both domestic and international travellers in Seoul when the borders open again.”
