Iberia says that it is increasing the number of reward seats which can be booked on its flights from this summer.

The carrier has contacted Iberia Plus members to confirm that they will be able to “Enjoy more reward seats on all our routes” from July 1.

A press release also states that the increase applies to all reservations made from April 8, for flights from the start of July.

“So that this summer they can choose between many more destinations and dates for their holidays, it has expanded the availability of seats on all its flights to redeem Avios (loyalty programme points),” said the airline.

“Thus, Iberia Plus customers who make their reservations with Avios from today to fly from July 1, will have more options and greater flexibility to redeem their Avios and, therefore, to be able to use them during their summer holidays, which improves significantly the advantages of the Iberia loyalty programme.”

When Business Traveller requested further information on how many more seats will be made available for reward redemptions, Iberia told us that it depended on the route and on the dates of flights, but on average the minimum number of seats in the Tourist cabin had been doubled.

In October 2020 Iberia announced that all Iberia Plus members would maintain their status levels until March 2022, “regardless of the flights they have made in the last year”.
