American Airlines has announced plans for quarantine-free flights from New York JFK to both Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino
The carrier’s services to both cities have been suspended for a year, but daily B777-200 flights to Milan resumed on April 4, to be followed by a three times weekly service to Rome on May 8.
To be eligible for quarantine-free travel customers will need to present negative Covid-19 test results prior to departure, as well as a negative test on arrival into Milan or Rome.
The news follows similar plans announced by Delta for quarantine-free flights between the same cities, which were due to launch at the start of April.

In addition AA is providing access to more preflight Covid-19 testing options, with a partnership with GoHealth Urgent Care adding over 150 facilities, including centres close to the carrier’s hubs in Charlotte and New York.

“We hope the additional opportunity for onsite testing in many of our customers’ local communities will help them easily check off an important item in their pretravel checklist and give them more peace of mind that they’re ready to travel.”
