Marriott International has announced that its three Collection brands – Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio and Luxury Collection – are expected to expand into nearly 70 new locations this year.

The Collection brands form part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of independent hotel brands, which are designed to offer “unique stories inspired by their destination” all the while providing the owners with benefits of the Marriott system. The global expansion will include 24 new markets.

Recent research by Tripadvisor on consumer behaviours has shown that travellers are more interested in individualised and experiential stays, while social media analysis conducted by Marriott saw a significant uptick in searches such as “storytelling” and “design”.

Tina Edmundson, Global Brand and Marketing Officer at Marriott International, commented:

“We know guests are seeking to immerse themselves in the richness of the locale, to discover what defines the destination, and to experience one-of-a-kind hotels.

“This has become increasingly important over the past year, as those who are waiting to travel are counting down the days until they make memories on the road again. Our Collection brands provide travelers with these truly authentic experiences, enveloped in the convenience and amazing benefits of being part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio. With new travel opportunities on the horizon, we look forward to welcoming guests to our distinctive properties in key cities and resort destinations around the world.”

The Autograph Collection

The Autograph Collection launched in 2010 with seven hotels, and has recently celebrated the opening of its 200th property: Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection, in the Tuscany region of Italy. The brand also brought its Autograph Collection to Singapore with the opening of Duxton Reserve Singapore.

The brand has 48 hotels in the pipeline, 19 of which will belong to the group’s all-inclusive platform in locations in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St Lucia, Antigua and Costa Rica. Further highlights include:

The brand will also open its first-ever hotel in Tasmania in autumn 2021, and expand its footprint in Asia this spring with the opening of Josun Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel in Seoul, South Korea.

Metehan Ozyer, Board Member of Ozyer Group and owner of Matild Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel, commented:

“At a time like no other for the hospitality industry, we’re proud to be opening our hotel as a member of The Luxury Collection.

“Being part of the portfolio has given us the opportunity to preserve this beautiful landmark and create a truly unique guest experience, all while being supported by Marriott International’s infrastructure and industry-leading expertise.
