Hyatt is planning to trial mobile health passport Verifly for its meetings and events to “facilitate peace of mind” for attendees.

The Verifly (styled VeriFLY) app has been produced by identity assurance leader Daon and allows customers to upload documents such as negative Covid-19 test results to an app to meet various requirements.

It is currently being used by over 300,000 people in 55 countries, with airlines including American Airlines, British Airways and Iberia using the app to streamline airport check-in through digital verification.

The hotel group has said that it will work with meeting planners to identify criteria for attendance, which might include proof of a negative Covid-19 test. Attendees will then be able to view requirements in the Verifly app prior to arrival so that they can fulfil the criteria and complete all necessary forms, such as storing test results within the app.

Attendees who meet the criteria will be able to use the app to display a green checkmark for entry into the venue. Daon emphasises that it will not send any personal or individual information to Hyatt or one of its hotels, with the group only receiving aggregated and anonymised data.

Frank Lavey, senior vice president of Global Operations at Hyatt, commented:

“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have believed that accessibility to testing and resources would play a critical role in the travel industry’s recovery. Collaborating with Daon, a leader in identity assurance, to test VeriFLY + Stay for colleagues and meeting attendees furthers our commitment to our guests’ and colleagues’ wellbeing and represents an important step in providing peace of mind to meeting attendees before, during and after an event.”

Steve Enselein, senior vice president of Events at Hyatt, added:

“Throughout the pandemic we have stayed close to our customers to understand what’s most important to them and focus on solutions that meet their needs. In listening to our customers, we know attendee safety and wellbeing remain top priorities for meeting planners, and we look forward to exploring Verifly + Stay with meeting planners to provide a new resource that assists with event execution.”

The group’s meetings and events also abide by Hyatt’s Global Care and Cleanliness Commitment, with features including regular sanitisation of meeting rooms before and after use, pre-packaged food items, and hand sanitiser stations throughout the public areas.
