Hilton has signed an agreement to develop ten new properties in Germany under its Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton by Hilton and Motto by Hilton brands.

The agreement with Signo Hospitality – which also extends to Austria and Switzerland – will see ten new hotels open over the next five years, including the first Hilton-branded properties in the cities of Herne and Bottrop.

The 154-room Hilton Garden Inn Herne will be located in Shamrock Park, a growing business park close to the city centre, and will feature a full-service lobby restaurant and bar, a shop, a gym and three meeting rooms.

Meanwhile Hampton by Hilton Bottrop will offer 108 rooms on the city’s Berlin Square, and will form part of a shopping centre redevelopment, including retail outlets and a cinema complex.

Hilton currently has 33 hotels trading in Germany, making the country the group’s second-largest market in Continental Europe. A further seven properties are expected to open in 2021.

Commenting on the news Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton, said:

“We are excited to partner with Signo Hospitality to support the next phase of our development in Germany, where Hilton is growing rapidly with nearly 50 hotels trading or under development.

“Rising demand for our focused service brands has underpinned this growth – particularly Hampton by Hilton, which has doubled its footprint in the past few years.

“There remains a tremendous opportunity for Hampton, Hilton Garden Inn and Motto by Hilton in cities across Germany, from airports to regional business hubs. Working with partners like Signo will allow us to continue this momentum and unleash pent up demand for quality branded accommodation.”
