Scottish carrier Loganair has announced plans for a new service between Newcastle and Jersey for this summer.
The route will operate between May 28 and October 26, initially with a twice weekly service before increasing to three flights week from July 6.
Flights will be served by a 49-seat Embraer 145 jet, with fares starting from £75.99 each way.
Loganair will also operate flights to the Channel island from Teesside International, Norwich, Edinburgh and Isle of Man this summer.
The carrier CCO Kay Ryan said that the destination “provides more than a hint of being overseas with its French place names and climate”, adding that the carrier believes the route “will prove extremely popular as it is increasingly likely that British holidaymakers’ options will be unfortunately severely limited this year”.
Ryan also said that the new service “shows Loganair’s continued commitment to providing domestic connectivity for both leisure and business customers, despite the severe damage being caused to the aviation industry by the Covid-19 pandemic”.
Loganair will join Jet 2 in offering flights between Newcastle and Jersey this summer – the Leeds-based carrier is set to operate a weekly Saturday service between May 22 and September 25.
