Emirates has launched a new discounted Covid-19 pre-departure testing service for its customers.

The trial has launched for passengers in the UAE, France, UK, Spain and the Netherlands, and sees customers able to download the Trustone mobile app to access PCR tests at reduced rates at one of Eurofins’ global laboratories.

Passengers travelling from the UAE benefit from a preferred rate of AED 130 (€30), while those departing from other countries will pay between €70 and €90 depending on the destination they are travelling from.

According to Emirates, the app – which has been created in partnership with GE Digital Aviation Software and “farm-to-table food traceability digital solution TE Food” – manages all related information in one place, including locating laboratories, booking appointments, and receiving test results.

The app can be downloaded from the Apple or Google Play App Stores – note that during the trial period “customers will still need to print the PCR certificates as per the current requirements of the destination they are travelling to”.

A second phase of the initiative (expected to launch in a few months), will expand the number of markets the app is available in, and will allow customers to use the app to validate their test results when checking in at the airport.

Commenting on the news Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ chief operating officer, said:

“We are constantly looking for solutions to improve our customer experience. Travel requirements today are dynamic, and even more than ever, our goal is to give our customers confidence and enable them to travel safely.

“With this latest solution, provided in partnership by GE Digital Aviation Software and TE Food, passengers will be able to easily source accurate information on tests, approved laboratories to get tested, as well as other vital measures to be taken prior to travel.

“We look forward to working with our partners on a successful trial and to expand the app’s offering and benefits to our customers in the future.”
