Gulf Air has celebrated the inaugural commercial flights at Bahrain International’s new 210,000 sqm terminal.
Flight GF2130 left Bahrain for Delhi at 1435 on Thursday January 28, followed shortly after by the first incoming service (flight GF765 from Lahore at 1450). The carrier also operated the final flight from the old terminal – (GF504 to Dubai).
The new terminal boosts capacity at the airport to 14 million passengers, and features dedicated check-in areas for economy and Falcon Gold (business class) customers, as well as a new lounge which is double in size to Gulf Air’s previous facility at the airport.
The 400-capacity Falcon Gold lounge features shower rooms, live cooking stations with new food and beverage concepts, a quiet area, prayer space and children’s area.
Gulf Air said that the lounge is operational “around the clock”, for eligible Falcon Gold passengers, as well as Falconflyer Silver, Gold and Black members.
The new terminal is four times the size of that which it replaces, and features 10,000 sqm of retail and dining space, including Jamie Oliver’s Pizza and Deli, Camden Food Co, and TGI Friday’s.
A new hotel is also set to open opposite departure gate 15, offering rooms from two-hour stays upwards.
