Easyjet has launched a new bundled fare option, to coincide with its amended carry-on bag policy which comes into force next month.

The Standard Plus fare includes speedy boarding, dedicated Easyjet Plus bag drop, allocated Upfront seating, and an allowance for a small under seat cabin bag and larger overhead bag.

This page on Easyjet’s website details the Upfront seating offering as being in rows 2-6 (or 2-5 on selected aircraft).

The fare launches ahead of the carrier’s new cabin bag policy, which removes the free overhead bag allowance for standard customers.

From February 10, passengers on Standard fares will only receive an allowance for a small bag measuring up to 45 x 36 x 20cm, which must fit under the seat in front.

Easyjet to charge for overhead luggage

The carrier’s revised fare options are as follows:

  • Standard basic Easyjet fare with no added extras. Comes with a small under seat cabin bag allowance
  • Standard Plus allocated seat at the front of the aircraft, speedy boarding, dedicated bag drop, small under seat cabin bag and larger overhead cabin bag allowance
  • Flexi up front or standard seat free of additional charge (or an Extra legroom seat for a discount), 23kg hold bag, Bistro voucher, speedy boarding, small under seat cabin bag and large overhead cabin bag, dedicated bag drop, fast track security, unlimited flight changes to services one day either side of original flight date

The Standard Plus fare option will only appear during the booking stage if there are Upfront seats available, and the airline says that it will be priced “the same as Easyjet’s current Upfront seat pricing structure which is variable and starts from £7.99”.

Commenting on the news Sophie Dekkers, chief commercial officer for Easyjet, said:

“We are pleased to be introducing Standard Plus which combines our most popular products like Speedy Boarding and an Up front seat into one bundle so customers can see the total cost at the first stage of booking.

“By having our three fare options – the Standard Fare where customers can find the lowest prices without any of the extras, the Standard Plus which bundles up key benefits and the Flexi Fare which includes added flexibility and means we can help customers quickly select all the products best suited to their needs.”
