Preferred Hotels and Resorts has launched a new bidding initiative as part of the brand’s I Prefer loyalty programme.

I Prefer Auctions will allow members to use points earned during past travels to purchase future curated hotel experiences – from overnight stays to locally inspired tasting menus and personalised spa treatments.

The auction is exclusive to I Prefer members and runs until February 3, with experiences paid for with points accrued in 2019 and 2020. While this auction is only applicable to 11 of the brand’s properties in North America, there are plans to develop a quarterly auction series with experiences at hotels globally. Note that members globally can bid on the experiences.

To take part in the auction, members must login to IPrefer.com and bid on their favourite experience via the auction site. The choices are dependent on their personal allotment of available points. The member with the highest bid at the time of the auction close will win that offer and subsequently receive full details of their successful bid and the redemption process via email.

The full list of experiences can be viewed by visiting the I Prefer Rewards Suite, with highlighted experiences including:

  • A penthouse suite stay and dinner for two at The Joule in Dallas, Texas
  • An overnight stay for two with in-suite dining at Hotel Gault in Montreal, Canada
  • A couples spa experience at Las Brisas Acapulco in Acapulco, Mexico
  • A two-night suite stay at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, which includes a US$200 dining credit to use at any of the hotel’s six food and drink outlets, two tickets for a comedy show, and US$100 in match play per person for two people on the casino floor

Jeri Salazar, Vice President of Loyalty for Preferred Hotels and Resorts, commented:

“In anticipation of greater travel freedoms to come, we are thrilled to spark inspiration among our loyal I Prefer members by inviting them to use their points to bid on new experiences to enjoy once they resume their adventures.

“We understand that many travellers’ priorities may have shifted over the past several months, and through I Prefer Auctions, we aim to address their new needs and aspirations by offering more personalisation in the options they have when looking to redeem their points, while inciting the excitement of finally planning a future trip.”

Preferred Hotels and Resorts recently extended the benefits of its loyalty programme to reassure members amid the Covid-19 pandemic. The I Prefer programme is free to join and allows members to earn points for eligible stays at participating hotels.
