Melia Hotels International will offer free Covid-19 antigen testing for guests at its hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

The Spanish hotel group will offer the service to guests staying a minimum of three nights who are required to present results to return to their country of residence. Guests will be able to book the test at check-in, and tests will be required to take place 72 hours before departure so that results are available on the day of return.

Should guests require a PCR test instead of an antigen test, the resort states that it will arrange logistics and a free-of-charge appointment with local testing sites.

Participating hotels include Paradisus Playa Del Carmen, Paradisus Cancun, Paradisus Los Cabos, ME Cabo, Melia Cozumel, Melia Puerto Vallarta The Grand Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Palma Real, Melia Caribe Beach Resort and Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort.

The hotel group will also provide free health insurance in collaboration with Europ Assistance to its guests with reservations in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. The policy will cover a free extension of a guest’s stay at the hotel up to 15 days if they receive a positive test result, as well as expenses for travel companions awaiting a negative test from the quarantined guest, or assistance to return home.

Andre Gerondeau, Chief Operating Officer at Melia Hotels International, commented on the news:

“At Melia, we continue to adapt to the new needs of the tourism industry. Guest health and safety remain our top priority and we want to ensure we make this an easy and seamless process for our guests, offering them peace of mind and confidence in their Melia vacation experience.”
