Hilton has added the latest US property under its Tapestry Collection brand, located one block from Pennsylvania State University.

Scholar Hotel State College features 72 extended-stay rooms, 1,250 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, and a lobby market place.

All rooms offer free wifi, large work areas, and a kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, hobs or oven, microwave and cabinets.

Full-service bar Social Food + Drink will open at the corner of Beaver Avenue and Pugh streets in the first quarter of 2021.

The hotel is owned by Scholar Hotel Group, and is housed within the historic Glennland Building on East beaver Avenue.

Hilton launched The Tapestry Collection in 2017, as “a portfolio of original hotels that offers guests unique style and vibrant personality, and encourages guests to explore the local destination”.

There are currently around 70 Tapestry properties open, the vast majority of them in the US, as well as locations in Lima, Madrid and Paris.

Commenting on the opening Gary Brandeis, president of Scholar Hotel Group, said:

“We are thrilled to open the Scholar Hotel State College and bring the historic Glennland Building back to life.

“We love the State College Community and think the Scholar brings a new standard to Downtown, not only with its unique interiors and features, but with its extended-stay-equipped guest rooms.

“As a Penn State graduate, it is an honour to introduce the Scholar to State College and the University.”
