British Airways Executive Club has unveiled a new partnership between its Avios loyalty currency and the Sainsbury’s driven Nectar programme.
From January 25 members will be able to convert 250 Avios into 400 Nectar points, or vice versa. There is also a one-off 500 bonus Avios offer when members convert 1,600 Nectar points into Avios by February 14, and customers will also earn double Nectar points at Sainsbury’s until April 19, 2021.
Customers will be able to link their Executive Club and Nectar accounts via either of the partners’ websites.
The move follows the ending of the partnership between Avios and Tesco Clubcard, which was announced in October and took effect on January 18.
Avios joins over 300 existing Nectar partners, ranging from Sainsbury’s and Argos to Ebay, Caffe Nero and Vue cinemas.
Carolina Martinoli, British Airways’ director of brand and customer experience, said that the announcement “will give our loyal Executive Club Members even more ways to collect and spend Avios and we are excited about the opportunities this new partnership will bring”.
“Everyday spending can quickly become a flight, upgrade or hotel stay giving members of Nectar and the Executive Club something to look forward to after a difficult last year,” she added.
Meanwhile Adam Daniels, CEO of Avios, said:
“Like Nectar, we pride ourselves on working with a wide range of partners for the benefit of our members, so working together was a natural step. Nectar will join hundreds of partners who all offer a whole host of exciting and varied ways to collect and spend Avios.”
British Airways supplied Business Traveller with the pictured materials which will be used to promote the new partnership.
