Accor has partnered with announced that it will debut the 25 Hours Hotel brand in Sydney by the end of 2022. The hotel group has partnered with CEBH, a joint venture partnership between Sydney-based developer Central Element and the property investor Boston Global, to carry out the development.

25 Hours Hotel Sydney will be located in the heritage building of 1-11 Oxford Street, Paddington, which first opened in 1911 as the West’s Olympia Theatre. Located in Oxford Street Village Centre, the building sits at the intersection where Oxford Street meets South Dowling Street, Victoria Street and Barcom Avenue.

Australian architecture firm Tonkin Zulaikha Greer will design the hotel, which is set to occupy 5,550 sqm and comprise 105 rooms. There are also plans for a rooftop bar overlooking Oxford Street and Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and harbour.

The rooms, public spaces and events areas will be designed by two interior design companies. Hong Kong-based firm A Work of Substance will be in charge of creating “powerful and memorable experiences” for hotel guests, such as a central courtyard in the middle of the hotel for live events. Meanwhile, Sydney-based firm Acme and Co will design the rooftop bar, restaurant and café areas.

Further facilities will include a fitness centre and conference rooms.

The development work will be carried out by CEBH, a joint venture partnership between Sydney-based developer Central Element and the property investor Boston Global.

Simon McGrath, CEO of Accor Pacific, said:

“We’re delighted to be bringing 25 Hours to Sydney. The building itself is in an incredible location and has enormous potential, and the open areas such as the rooftop bar and the central courtyard will allow us to truly bring our new hospitality concept to life. With CEBH we have an experienced partner at our side, who will bring skill and thoughtful detail to the project.”

Wayne Chivas at CEBH added:

“It has been our long-term vision to create a hotel of stature and presence in the heart of Sydney. We are delighted that in 25 Hours, we have found the perfect partner for this unique building. 25 Hours will be a hotel characterised by personality and charming, relaxed service, enriching Oxford Street and the city’s culinary and bar scene.”

The hotel is the second 25 Hours Hotel to be announced in Australia, following the unveiling of plans for 25 Hours Melbourne last year.
