Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) will bring its Voco brand to Vietnam in 2021, marking the group’s first property under the upscale brand in South East Asia.

The group has partnered with Tuyet Lien Son Co Ltd. to open a hotel in the coastal city of Danang, just 1.5km from the city centre and 5km from Danang International airport.

The 290-room Voco Ma Belle Danang will be located next to the beachfront, with modern design including a colour palette of “yellow for energy, teal for elegance and grey for balance”. The hotel’s rooms follow a concept of ‘Me Time’, featuring premium beds, innovative lighting and user-friendly technology, along with “indulgent” amenities.

The hotel will also feature one of the city’s only rooftop bars, with a panoramic view of both the ocean and the urban landscape, an infinity pool and a DJ booth.

Meanwhile, the property will have an all-day dining restaurant serving local cuisine “with a twist”, an extensive range of residential-style meeting facilities with views of the coastline, a gym and spa.

Serena Lim, VP Development for IHG, South East Asia and Korea, said:

“It’s fantastic to debut the Voco brand in Vietnam with such a passionate and committed partner in Tuyet Lien Son Co Ltd. Voco has quickly expanded around the world and we are seeing increased interest in it across South East Asia. As a brand, Voco presents an opportunity to access the upscale segment fast, backed by the power of our IHG enterprise and systems.

“With the increasing development and sophistication of Danang, we felt this was the perfect time to introduce a youthful and playful brand into the market. And, with Vietnam’s strong growth trajectory, we are confident that Voco will continue to expand to other locations as a core upscale offer of IHG Hotels & Resorts”

Nguyen Tuyet, Deputy General Director of Tuyet Lien Son Co Ltd., added:

“We built this hotel with a vision to give guests a fantastic lifestyle experience through which they can truly be themselves. Guests should have a fabulous time, feel the energy of love and happiness when they stay with us. This was epitomised in the ‘Ma Belle’ personality that I sought for the hotel, inspired by the Vietnamese mature woman who is confident, sophisticated and warm and who carries the positive energy of youth, love and peace.

“I looked at a number of brands, looking for something unstuffy but charming, modern and welcoming – and Voco perfectly fit.  The brand was able to adapt to our vision while also enhancing it via its distinctive brand hallmarks, something I truly treasured.

“We have put our trust in IHG to turn the concept into a reality, and we know they will help us deliver our vision. Together, we can provide lasting memories for guests from across Vietnam and around the world.”

The Voco brand launched in 2018, and of the 16 properties open worldwide so far, five of these are in the UK in locations including OxfordReading, Cardiff and Solihull. The brand’s first Scottish hotel is also set to open in Edinburgh early next year.

IHG recently announced plans for the first Voco property in Qatar, with the existing Rabban Suites West Bay Doha (which previously operated as a Fraser Suites) set to be rebranded as the Voco Doha West Bay Suites in the first quarter of 2021.

The group now has over 35 properties either open or in the pipeline, with hotels set to open in Germany, France, The Netherlands, Egypt, Poland, Cyprus, South Africa and Thailand over the next few years.
