The Indian government has developed a digital platform, Co-WIN for real-time monitoring of Covid-19 vaccine. It also includes a mobile application where people can register themselves if they want the vaccine.

The vaccination drive is likely to begin in India soon with three vaccine-makers including Pfizer.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday, health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that the Co-WIN platform will help monitor the entire vaccination process.

The Co-WIN app comprises five modules — administrator, registration, vaccination, beneficiary acknowledgment, and report.

The administrator module is for the administrators who will be conducting these vaccination sessions. “Through this module, they can create sessions and the respective vaccinators and managers will be notified,” stated Bhushan. The registration module is for people to get registered for vaccination.

The vaccination module will verify the beneficiary details and update the vaccination status. The beneficiary acknowledgment module will send SMS to beneficiaries. It will also generate QR-based certificates after one gets vaccinated. The report module will prepare reports of how many vaccine sessions have been held, how many attended those, and how many have dropped out.

The application will also share real-time data of the temperature of the cold-storage facilities to the main server.
