Hyatt is set to open its first Park Hyatt property in the UK, located in London’s Nine Elms area on the south bank of the River Thames.

The hotel group has signed an agreement with developers R&F UK to open the 203-room Park Hyatt London River Thames in 2022.

The property will be located within R&F UK’s Nine Elms development, a mixed-use project which will also comprise 2,300 apartments and over 11,150 sqm of commercial space. This will include the company’s One Thames City development, made up of premium residences, hotels, shops, a park and restaurants.

Local attractions will include Tate Britain, Battersea Park, and Kia Oval cricket ground, while the hotel will also be situated within walking distance of the Nine Elms underground station. Provided that the extension of the Northern Line is complete by 2022, guests will be able to reach the city and West End in under 15 minutes.

The hotel will have a secure executive wing and event spaces, including a large ballroom, targeting both business and government travellers due to its proximity to the new US embassy.

Felicity Black-Roberts, vice president of development Europe at Hyatt, commented on the news:

“The addition of the Park Hyatt brand to London is a key milestone for Hyatt. It has always been a priority to bring our luxury Park Hyatt brand back to London, so this is a fantastic opportunity for us. We are excited to continue and expand on Hyatt’s relationship with R&F by bringing this new exciting hotel to London.”

Michael Purefoy, global brand director of R&F UK, added:

“We are delighted that Hyatt has identified R&F UK’s Nine Elms development as the best location in London for its Park Hyatt brand. The globally recognized Hyatt name is a valuable addition to the development and we’re pleased to share that this agreement further cements the strong relationship that we continue to enjoy with Hyatt properties across the world.”

The new hotel will strengthen Hyatt’s footprint in the UK, joining the likes of Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill, Hyatt Regency Manchester, Hyatt Place London Heathrow Airport, Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Hyatt House Manchester, Andaz London Liverpool Street, and Hyatt Place West London Hayes.

Hyatt also operates the Great Scotland Yard Hotel under its Unbound Collection. We reviewed the property earlier this year:
