Air India has announced the first direct flight between Bengaluru (BLR) and San Francisco (SFO). Scheduled to start from January 11, 2021, the flag carrier of India will operate this service twice-weekly.
The Bengaluru- San Francisco flight will further enhance connectivity between the two major tech hubs of the world and will meet the demand of corporate customers for travel to SFO and adjoining areas in the US.
“The first nonstop flight between Bengaluru and San Francisco is a significant milestone for Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru (BLR) and will transform it as the new gateway to India. This will tremendously help passengers, enabling faster and easier access to cities on the west coast of the United States,” said BLR airport in an official release.
Air India plans to deploy its 238-seater Boeing 777-200 LR aircraft on the route.
This will be Air India’s longest route at 14,000+ km (8,698 miles) and longest flight to and from India (over 16 hours).
