Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans for its first Hotel Indigo property in the Malaysian capital.

The 180-room Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park is scheduled to open in 2023 at the base of Bukit Nanas (“Pineapple Hill”), close to Kuala Lumpur Tower and the KL Forest Eco Park.

Facilities will include Char Bistro and Bar, Neighbourhood Café, an outdoor rooftop pool, gym and function room, and interior design will feature graffiti walls in collaboration with local students.

The property will also feature a number of environmentally friendly initiatives, including rainwater harvesting, solar panels, and reclaimed materials from nearby sites.

There are currently four Hotel Indigo properties across South East Asia and Korea, in Bangkok, Bali, Phuket and Singapore.

The Hotel Indigo brand launched in 2004, and currently has 126 properties across over 15 countries, including recent openings in Bath, CyprusMadrid and Brussels. There are a further 100 hotels in the brand’s pipeline, scheduled to open in the next three to five years.

Commenting on the news Serena Lim, vice president, development for South East Asia and Korea, IHG, said:

“We are very excited to bring the Hotel Indigo brand to Malaysia’s capital because it gives us the perfect opportunity to open a truly beautiful, boutique hotel which serves the curious – people who are inspired by new places, new people and new ideas.

“All of our guests, whether they are staying for leisure or business, will be offered a unique mix of rainforest relaxation alongside the delights of the city, which is just minutes away. We want to offer everyone who stays with us not only a memorable trip, but also an experience they will remember for many years to come.”
