Jet 2 is to open its tenth UK base next year, serving 33 destinations from Bristol airport.

The UK’s third largest scheduled airline will join rivals Easyjet and Ryanair in offering a range of routes including four which are not currently served from Bristol.

A total of 33 destinations are now on sale for summer 2021 and winter 2020/21, including new routes from the southwest England airport to Izmir, Kalamata, Lesbos and Costa de Almeria.

Jet 2 will operate up to 56 weekly flights from Bristol next summer, with three aircraft offering flights to mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Turkey, Italy, Portugal and Madeira. The first service will depart Bristol for Lanzarote on April 1, 2021.

Earlier this month the carrier was forced to suspend all flights departing England, following the start of the second lockdown period, but Steve Heapy, CEO of and Jet2holidays said that the new base “reflects our long-term strategy to continue growing our successful business and become the UK’s leading leisure travel business”.

Never has the time been more important for the region to look to the future in a post-Covid world, and and Jet2holidays have shown the confidence in the strength of the region to open up their tenth UK operating base at Bristol Airport.

“This exciting news is a major step towards the future by creating job opportunities, providing significant investment and an increase in the choice of destinations and holidays available to customers in the region. We will continue to work closely with and Jet2holidays on the strategic partnership and develop further opportunities in the future.”
