Accor has announced plans for its first property under the luxury SO/ brand in Moscow.
SO/ Moscow will form part of the Poklonnaya 9 complex, a 32-storey tower located close to Kutuzovsky Prospect and the Triumphal Arch of Moscow, which will also comprise residential apartments.
The hotel is set to open in 2023, and will feature a panoramic swimming pool, as well as spa, restaurant, bars, lounges areas and co-working space.
Public spaces and guest rooms will be designed by the Rockwell Group, which Accor said “has chosen to explore Russian fairytales as a key creative driver for the project”.
Commenting on the news Alexis Delaroff, COO, Accor Russia, Georgia, Ukraine and CIS, said:
“I am very pleased that our luxurious and fashionable SO/ brand is coming to Moscow and especially in such an iconic place as Kutuzovsky Prospect and Poklonnaya Gora.
“This luxury brand, which is known for its avant-garde design, high fashion influences and trend-setting events, will add a French-infused charm and high-class ambience to the Moscow location. It will undoubtedly become a place of attraction for guests and locals alike.”
The SO/ brand (part of the Sofitel family, and previously known as So Sofitel) currently has properties in Auckland, Bangkok, Hua Hin, Mauritius, Singapore, Berlin, Vienna and St Petersburg, with forthcoming locations including Kuala Lumpur, Dubai, Paris and Jakarta.
Earlier this year the brand announced plans for its first Australian hotel, located in Melbourne’s central business district.
