IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) is set to bring both the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands to Phuket’s Kata Beach.
Scheduled to open in 2022, the two hotels will add to The Beach Plaza Phuket, the largest mixed-use development in Kata Beach, located just five minutes from the sea, according to IHG.
Holiday Inn Phuket Kata Beach will have 134 rooms and offer guests a range of dining options and meeting facilities as well as a swimming pool and gym. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Phuket Kata Beach extends the offering to 135 rooms and also features the brand’s signature Great Room.
“It’s fantastic to continue the expansion of our Holiday Inn brand family in Thailand with the addition of these two new properties, and especially to partner with K.W. Group who have decades of hospitality experience in Phuket,” said Serena Lim, vice president, development for IHG, South East Asia and Korea.
“We remain on track to double the size of our mainstream estate across the Kingdom in the next three to five years and the combined strength of this partnership will ensure we deliver on our brands’ promise and delight guests when the two hotels open in 2022,” she added.
IHG says Holiday Inn hotels deliver “warm and welcoming experiences” for guests whether they are staying for business or leisure, while Holiday Inn Express is the choice for “travellers looking for a simple, engaging place to rest and recharge”.
Kata Beach is a popular location with families, couples and independent travellers, located just a one-hour drive from Phuket International Airport, says the hotel company.
The area hosts a range of activities such as water sports to nature walks and island tours. The Patong area is a five-minute drive away and features entertainment, shopping, and dining options. Cultural and historical attractions are also within easy access of the hotels, as well as amusement parks, aquariums and animal sanctuaries.
IHG has 19 hotels in the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brand family in Thailand, with another 16 in the development pipeline that are due to open within the next three to five years, says the company.
