Wizz Air has announced two new routes from London Luton airport, as the carrier continues to expand its UK network.

Twice weekly flights to Gibraltar and Madeira will commence in December, operating on Monday and Friday to the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar, and on Tuesday and Saturday to the autonomous Portuguese island of Madeira.

Current routes between the UK and Gibraltar include British Airways from Heathrow, and Easyjet from Bristol, Gatwick and Manchester. The latter also operates a summer seasonal service from Luton.

Meanwhile British Airways operates flights from Heathrow to Madeira’s Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, while Easyjet flies from Gatwick and Manchester, and pre Covid-19 Jet 2 was operating from Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, London Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle upon Tyne.

In recent months Wizz Air has been steadily adding new routes from the UK:

Commenting on the news Owain Jones, managing director, Wizz Air UK, said:
