Qatar Airways has launched a new range of vegan dishes for its premium passengers.
Vegan options are now available for business class customers departing Hamad International airport, and on selected flights into Doha.
New dishes include smoked moutabel, spiral courgettes and arrabbiata sauce, tofu and spinach tortellini, Asian barbecue tofu, noodles, scallions and shiitake, fried tofu with vegetable tajine, cauliflower couscous and kalamata bruschetta, and chickpea flour omelette.
Business class passengers will be able to choose vegan options on an a la carte basis inflight – economy customers can continue to pre-order special vegan meals ahead of travel.
Like most carriers worldwide, Qatar Airway has had to make a number of changes to its inflight dining service to minimise contact between crew and passengers as a result of Covid-19.
Business class meals are currently being served covered on a tray instead of a table set up, and a cutlery wrap is offered as an alternative to individual cutlery service. Menu cards have been removed in economy, and are single use in business class.
Commenting on the news Qatar Airways Group chief executive, Akbar Al Baker, said:
“We always strive to provide our customers with authentic and indulgent experiences in the skies. We are delighted to incorporate a vegan main course choice to our on-board menu, offering our passengers yet another lifestyle choice that redefines the expectations from a five-star airline.”
