Marriott has opened a new hotel in the capital city of Fujian province, China.

Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside is located in the heart of Donghu Digital Town in Changle district.

“We are very excited to open Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside, and celebrate the third Marriott brand hotel here in Fujian province,” said Henry Lee, president, Greater China, Marriott International.

“Fujian province is fast becoming a destination with immense economic, social and cultural significance, both domestically and globally. We are very pleased to see the robust growth of our signature brand here, as we expand our portfolio to serve the needs of our guests when they travel to this region.”

Marriott says the new hotel is a five minute walk from Fuzhou Future Center (FFC) and Fuzhou Digital China Convention and Exhibition Center, venue for the annual Digital China Summit.

Situated next to Fuzhou’s scenic East Lake, the hotel also offers guests easy access to a  12 kilometer-long sandy beach, an 18-hole golf course, water sports and other recreational facilities. Fuzhou Changle International Airport is  located 13 kilometers or about 15 minutes’ drive away, according to the hotel.

The hotel has 318 guest rooms and suites with “natural colours, comfortable signature bedding, locally-inspired art elements, luxurious marble-clad bathrooms”. Marriott says each room features an intelligent welcome system which turns on the lights and television and opens the curtains when guests enter the room.

Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside also offers wellness and fitness facilities, including an indoor heated pool, a yoga room and a 24-hour fitness centre.

Dining options

Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside offers an array of dining options for guests who wish to experience both local specialties and international cuisines. Goji Kitchen & Bar is an all-day dining restaurant with live cooking stations, indoor and outdoor seating areas and menus showcasing classic Asian and international dishes.

Jasmine Chinese Restaurant is named after the official flower of Fuzhou and specialises in contemporary Cantonese cuisine as well as authentic Fuzhou dishes. The restaurant also offers five dining rooms which can seat 12 to 20 guests for private gatherings.

The Bao offers traditional Fujian steamed bao buns, Chinese barbecue rice dishes and snacks.

The Lounge is an open-plan space  where “guests can combine business and social pursuits” over light snacks, pastries and refreshing beverages.

On the 26th floor, Dew Bud Tea House overlooks the East Lake, and offers a traditional Chinese tea ceremony featuring exquisite local teas such as Fuzhou jasmine tea and Wuyi Mountain rock tea. Also on the same level, M Club is an exclusive lounge for Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite Marriott Bonvoy members and guest who stay on executive floor, serving light meals, drinks and cocktails in the evenings.

Meetings and events 

Fuzhou Marriott Hotel Riverside offers 1,750 square meters of meeting spaces capable of hosting a wide range of events such as small to large-scale conferences, exhibitions and social gatherings. The 1,050 square meter Grand Ballroom is the hotel’s center piece venue, featuring a built-in 95 square meter high definition LED screen. The adjacent Ballroom Foyer, with its direct access to the courtyard garden, is ideal for welcome drinks and tea breaks during events.

Five customisable function rooms, with video conferencing facilities, provide venues for smaller meetings and other occasions.
