Aloft Hotels, Marriott International’s brand for music enthusiasts and tech-savvy travellers, has opened its first hotel in Japan.

Marriott says the design of Aloft Tokyo Ginza is conceptualised as a nod to Ginza’s “Miyuki-zoku” youth subculture movement of the 1960s. The hotel showcases an eclectic mix of neon colours, graffiti, and urban art inspired by Tokyo’s iconic street culture.

Located in Ginza, the new Aloft Tokyo Ginza is a short walk away from Ginza Six shopping mall, the Mitsukoshi Ginza department store, Tsukiji Market, and the historic Kabuki-za theater. The hotel’s proximity to the Ginza and Higashi-Ginza stations also provides guests with quick and easy access to other areas of Tokyo, says Marriott.

“We are thrilled to see the arrival of the Aloft brand in Japan with the opening of Aloft Tokyo Ginza,” said Rajeev Menon, president, Asia Pacific (excluding Greater China), Marriott International.

“With 17 different brands now present in Japan, the debut of Aloft Hotels further underscores Marriott International’s commitment to growing its footprint across the country. With it lively in-hotel social scene, and innovative music and art programming, Aloft Tokyo Ginza is set to enhance the ‘always-on’ traveler’s stay and play experience in Tokyo.”

The hotel is home to 205 guest rooms which have a loft-like layout. Marriott says the new property has “airy nine-foot-ceilings” and each room is complete with Wi-Fi, 55-inch flatscreen 4K televisions, and bathrooms that come with a walk-in rainfall shower.

The hotel features a mix of dining and social spaces including The Warehouse, an all-day dining restaurant “channeling a playful Ginza Factory Club aesthetic”, where guests can enjoy breakfast in the morning, prix-fixe during the daytime, and an a la carte menu at night.

Roof Dogs, the hotel’s open-air rooftop bar serves up a variety of sparkling wine, various kinds of hotdogs, and other snacks for guests to enjoy while taking in great views of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Re:fuel by Aloft offers a selection of light meals, snacks, and drinks.

The lobby is adjacent to the Re:mix Lounge that “provides locals and travellers a space to mix and mingle, day or night.”

W XYZ Bar offers craft cocktails and snacks for guests to eat and sip over live music as part of the brand’s signature Live At Aloft Hotels music program, which gives emerging local artists a platform to showcase their music talents in the evenings, says Marriott. For guests keeping up with their fitness routines while on the road, Re:charge, the hotel’s fitness center, is open 24/7.
