Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) has revealed plans to develop Jebel Jais into a stand-alone destination.

The entity’s new investment strategy, supported by various government sectors including RAK Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will develop the emirate’s outdoor nature-based offering on Jebel Jais by adding new sustainable tourism experiences

Enhancements will include a pop-up hotel concept with cliff-side rooms, scheduled to open H2 2021; a mountain lodge offering luxury accommodation; and the Jais Coaster, a summer toboggan/bobsled concept inspired by the Alps, which will open in Q2 next year.

In another Jebel Jais first, the destination will also launch Sky High Meetings – the first-of-its-kind highest meeting room in the UAE, which is ideal for business gatherings and will open later this year.

Drive-through food trailers, kiosks, retail containers, vintage truck restaurants, cafés, a rest area, a kids playground and a putt-putt golf facility are also part of the investment plan.

The upcoming projects on UAE’s highest mountain will join existing attractions including Jais Adventure Peak – the gateway to the World’s Longest Zipline and 1484 by Puro – the highest restaurant in the UAE.

RAKTDA will also open the world’s first Bear Grylls Explorers Camp on October 16, bringing the Jebel Jais mountain experience to life.
