Accor has announced plans for its first Swissotel property in Qatar, housed within two mixed-use towers in Doha’s West Bay.

The Swissotel Doha Corniche Park Towers Hotel and Residences is set to open in 2022 – when Qatar will stage the FIFA World Cup – and will feature 200 hotel rooms, 150 serviced apartments and  121 luxury branded residences.

The property will be part of a three-tower complex – a 44-floor building including four podium and mezzanine levels of retail space and restaurants, an interconnected 29-floor tower housing the residences, and a 23-floor building which will be home to the headquarters of Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company, with which Accor has signed a management agreement for the hotel and residences.

The hotel will offer a total of 60 suites, and the serviced apartments will be split across one, two and three-bedroom categories ranging from 38 sqm to 143 sqm.

Hotel facilities will include four dining venues, 750 sqm of meeting space, a spa, fitness centre, swimming pool and kids’ club, while the residences will benefit from a top floor Residential Lounge, as well as a private swimming pool and gym.

Accor wants the property to be the regional flagship for Swissotel, building on the brand’s seven existing properties in the Middle East and Africa.

The group currently operates six hotels in Qatar, with a further nine in the pipeline.

Commenting on the news Mark Willis, CEO, Accor Middle East and Africa, said:

“Our collaboration with Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) provides us with a remarkable opportunity to showcase Swissôtel’s true potential in the Middle East, delivering a one-of-a-kind project that will become the brand’s regional flagship.

“By combining hotel, serviced apartment and residential accommodation under this premium brand for the first time, we are meeting fast-growing demand for exceptional long- and short-stay accommodation, complemented by five-star facilities and services, while bolstering Accor’s presence in Qatar.”
