Intercontinental Hotels group has added its first Voco property in the French capital, with a second hotel set to be unveiled in Strasbourg later this year.

The former Holiday Inn Gare Montparnasse has been renovated and rebranded as the Voco Paris Montparnasse. The hotel is located on the Left bank of the River Seine, around five minutes’ walk from Montparnasse rail station.

The property features 102 rooms including a Premium room category with private terraces, and other facilities include Parisian coffee shop 12 Grammes, a courtyard garden, two meeting rooms and free wifi throughout the property.

The Voco brand launched in 2018, and of the dozen or so properties open worldwide so far, five of these are in the UK in locations including OxfordReading, Cardiff and Solihull. The brand’s first Scottish hotel is also set to open in Edinburgh early next year.

This week Voco opened its first Austrian property, and earlier this month IHG also announced the rollout of the brand into the US and China.

Within France, Voco will add a Strasbourg property later this year, followed by hotels in Reims and Beaune in 2021 and 2022 respectively.

Commenting on the news Will Yell, Head of Voco EMEAA, IHG, said:

“Since we launched Voco two years ago we’ve seen fantastic growth all around the world and it’s so exciting to open our first hotel in France, with three more Voco hotels in the pipeline for this market.

Voco Paris Montparnasse will be a great example of the brand, blending Voco’ s unique characteristics with the spirit of the French capital. Being part of the Voco family doesn’t mean becoming one of the same. Whether it’s a newly built property or a well-known hotel with plenty of history, we foster and celebrate all the individual spirit and elements that make a hotel successful.”
