Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), Government of India has revised the check-in baggage policy for domestic flights. As per the latest guidelines, airlines can set the baggage limit as per their internal policies.

When domestic operations resumed on May 25, the aviation ministry had asked airlines to allow one check-in bag of up to 20 kg per passenger. However, now airlines can reset the check-in luggage limit as per their pre-pandemic policy.

“The matter with regard to check-in baggage has been reviewed based on the feedback/inputs received from concerned stakeholders. Considering the convenience of the passengers, it has been decided to amend the existing provisions in this regard and baggage limitation would be as per the airlines,” reads an official statement by MoCA.

Vistara spokesperson said, “In response to the latest advisory issued by the government regarding check-in baggage, we shall be restoring the pre-Covid baggage allowance effective from September 28. Customers’ convenience and safety remain our topmost priorities.”
