Citizens of Portugal living in the UAE can now collect their newly issued passports at two new Portugal Passport Collection Centres.
The Embassy of Portugal in the UAE and visa and consular service provider, VFS Global, launched the new facilities last month, both of which operate from 9am to 5pm, Sunday to Thursday.
VFS Global’s Portugal Passport Collection Centres in Abu Dhabi and Dubai ensure the safe and secure delivery of newly issued passports to customers.
Prior to this, Portuguese nationals living in the UAE were required to visit the Portuguese Embassy in Abu Dhabi for passport collection.
The new centres will therefore reduce travel time and provide an additional avenue for passport collection.
However, news passport and passport renewals applications must still be made in person at the Embassy of Portugal in Abu Dhabi.
Centre locations are as follows:
Dubai: Wafi Mall, 2nd Floor, Falcon, Phase 2 Umm Hurair 2
Abu Dhabi: The Mall, World Trade Centre, Level B2, Khalifa Bin Zayed, The 1st Street
To protect employees and visitors from the spread of COVID-19, VFS Global has established standardised protective measures at both centres, including specific social distancing and sanitation mandates.
All customers must undergo body temperature checks on arrival and any visitor exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, including high fever, cough and difficulty in breathing will not be permitted to enter.
In addition, all customers and VFS Global employees are required to wear a face mask and gloves.
