Marriott International has opened its first Luxury Collection property in Abu Dhabi.

Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa, built in the style of a historic desert village, is nestled in the emirate’s dunes, around a 30-minute drive from Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Inspired by native architecture and the destination’s rich history, the resort’s 103 guest rooms and villas feature traditional Arabesque flourishes, mashrabiya detailing and Bedouin accessories.

Villas offer plunge pools and a patio with unlimited Arabian Desert views.

Six dining venues include an authentic Emirati restaurant and a Bedouin-inspired lounge, while the spa features 11 treatment rooms, a Turkish hammam, open-air yoga pavilion and innovative wellness facilities such as plunge pools, snow caves, a healing crystal salt sauna and a unique cryo experience.

Guest experiences focus on culture, history and discovery and include desert horseback tours, a trip to the Al Wathba camel rack track, a private falconry show and guided tours of the dunes, sand flats and indigenous flora and fauna.

Al Wathba Desert Resort & Spa joins The Luxury Collection’s UAE portfolio of iconic hotels such as Al Maha, a Luxury Collection Desert Resort & Spa, Dubai, Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Dubai and Ajman Saray, a Luxury Collection Resort, Ajman.
