Qatar Airways has made changes to its mobile app which it says will help “minimise physical contact and interactions throughout their journey”.

The app now has a personalised home screen, with a ‘My Trips’ feature highlighting important information for those with an upcoming flight. The app is also now available in Arabic.

Customers can check-in online using the app, as well select preferred seats and meals in advance, download boarding passes and generate baggage tags to print at home. A camera tool also allows users to capture a photo of their passport and /or payment card without having to enter the details manually.

In addition passengers can enable notifications through the app to receive alerts on departure time, check-in, boarding and baggage collection.

Members of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club can currently earn 1,000 points when downloading the app at qatarairways.com/app.

The enhanced app functionality is one of a number of changes introduced by the carrier as a result of Covid-19, including flexible booking policies, and all tickets booked for travel before December 31 being valid for two years from the date of issuance.

From the start of July, all economy passengers are required to wear both a face covering and shield inflight to help stop the potential spread of coronavirus.
