Delta has extended its change fee waiver on new flights purchased up until August 31. The policy allows customers to change their flight without a fee for a year from the date of purchase.
This week American Airlines also extended its change fee waiver policy, for passengers booking tickets for any new travel purchased by September 8.
The announcement was part of a Delta update which confirmed other current policies including:
- The ability to rebook travel for up to two years for customers who purchased flights prior to April 17 (and who are pending travel through until the end of this year)
- The continued blocking of seats adjacent to those selected by a customer until at the least the end of September – with the exception of parties of three or more who may sit together and make use of middle seats
Commenting on the news Dwight James, SVP – pricing and revenue management, said:
“When booking their travel, customers tell us they value more space and greater flexibility during a time of physical distancing and heightened uncertainty.
“We want our customers to book and travel with the peace of mind in knowing their health and safety remains Delta’s top priority, and that we’ll continue evaluating our policies to maintain the high standard of care they expect.”
This week Delta also announced plans to partner with the makers of Lysol, to develop new cleaning and disinfecting solutions for high-touch areas at the airport and onboard including aircraft lavatories, departure gates, and the airline’s airport lounges.
