Radisson Hotel Group has opened the first hotel under its lifestyle Radisson Red brand in Scandinavia.

The Radisson Red Aarhus is located in Denmark’s second largest city, close to attractions including the ARoS, Musikhuest and central food market.

The  78-room hotel features suites with balconies, free wifi, a fitness centre, meeting facilities and a lobby area combining a bar, Fred and Co restaurant and “creative hangout”.

The Radisson Red brand launched in Brussels in 2016, with subsequent locations including Glasgow, Campinas (Sao Paulo), Cape Town and Minneapolis.

The rollout of the brand has been relatively slow, although there has been a recent flurry of announcements, including forthcoming properties in JohannesburgLiverpool and London, as well as three new European hotels set for Lisbon, Porto and Vienna.

There are now over 40 properties either open or under development under the brand worldwide.

Commenting on the news Tom Flanagan Karttunen, area senior vice president for Radisson Hotel Group in Northern and Western Europe, said:

“With statement design, spacious rooms with big balconies and maximalist details in the form of bold patterns and pops of colour, the first Radisson Red hotel in Scandinavia is a true multisensory experience.

“This is a great start for Radisson Red in the Nordic region, with new properties planned in both spectacular Reykjavik, Iceland and urban Oslo, Norway. With this reinforcement of our position as the leading international hotel group in the Nordics, we look forward to welcoming guests and introducing our Radisson Red offering to the region.”
