Yotel will open a 212-room hotel in Clerkenwell this weekend, marking the group’s first central London property, and only the third city centre Yotel in Europe.
The hotel officially opens on August 1, and will offer “cabins” equipped with the brand’s signature Smart Bed with converts into a sofa, as well as Smart TVs, free wifi and USB charging ports. Room categories range from solos to doubles, triples and a VIP Suite.
All-day restaurant, bar and work space Komyuniti seats up to 120 across booths, sofas and social tables, and offers “street food inspired bar snacks and larger plates from bao buns to flatbreads, all washed down with a range of local craft beer and speciality cocktails”.
The hotel also has two meeting spaces, a gym, and a Grab and Go snack station.

Guests can check-in using the Yotel App and download a Smart Key, or self-service kiosks are also available in reception (aka “Mission Control”). The group has also implemented a number of #SmartStay health and safety measures at its properties in the light of Covid-19.
The property is located on Clerkenwell Road, under half a mile from both Farringdon and Barbican stations, and rates start from £85 per night.

The Yotel brand launched in 2007 at London’s Gatwick airport, and there are currently arround 30 properties either operating or under development, with plans to increase this to 60 by 2023.
The group’s first European city centre hotel opened in Edinburgh last year, followed shortly after by the Yotel Amsterdam Noord. Further properties are set to open in Glasgow and Porto later this year.
Yotel has gradually been expanding beyond its airport location roots, with city centre hotels also open in New York, Boston, San Francisco, Washington DC and Singapore.

Commenting on the news Hubert Viriot, Yotel’s CEO, said:
“We are so pleased to be bringing Yotel back home to where it all began. London has a special place in our hearts as our first ever hotels opened here in both Heathrow and Gatwick back in 2007.
“Our headquarters are also based in London, it’s been fantastic to be so close to this project and see it all come to life. Clerkenwell is such a vibrant and creative area and I hope our guests enjoy exploring everything that it has to offer as much as we do.”
